The Best Interior Painters In Galt Take The Prep Work Seriously
Unless it’s new construction, we start every interior painting project by removing all the furniture from the room, or moving it to the middle if it cannot be moved out, we wipe down any dust on the baseboards, and use a mild cleaner on any dirty areas on the walls and trim.
When appropriate we remove all of the light switch and plug covers (and reinstall at the end of the project), remove smoke detectors, window coverings, and if needed lights or ceiling fans.
At this point you might think it’s time to get the paint out, but there’s still a few more things that have to be completed before we start your interior painting project.
We Mask Off Areas That Aren't Being Painted
We cover all furniture with masking film (plastic), we cover counters and other horizontal surfaces, we run tape or paper around the perimeter of the home, and cover the floor with plastic lined drop cloths that NEVER get used outside.
We Caulk As Needed
When it’s appropriate we recaulk window and door trim to close up any cracks. We also check all the drywall corners for hairline cracks and caulk those, and lastly check where the baseboard and door frames meet the wall to fill in any hairline cracks there.
We Apply Texture And Spackle Holes
If texture patching is part of the project, or needed for a large hole we install a pattern as close to the original wall as possible. Holes are filled with multiple products depending on their size, dry times allowed, and other product details
We Prime As Appropriate
Water stains and stain producing wood tannins are sealed in with a stain blocking primer. Any raw wood gets a prime-coat to build up the coating and even out the sheen of finish coats. And any fresh texture or wallpaper paste (if wallpaper was removed) get sealed with a sealing primer.

Once all of the prep-work is finished your interior home painting is done using one of 2 approaches:
- If we are painting only a couple of rooms or less, we will start our interior painting projects by coating the ceiling. This requires using a step ladder to move around the perimeter of the room and using a brush to paint the cut-in where the wall and ceiling meet and around the edge of any lights, ceiling fans or duct registers that couldn’t be removed. Once the cut in is complete we roll the ceiling with a microfiber roller nap, because microfiber provides the best finish quality. After the ceiling has been painted, we repeat the process for the walls, painting a clean, straight line along the top of the wall where it meets the ceiling, cutting in around the window and door trim and across the top of the baseboard. After the walls and ceilings are painted the last step in our Galt interior painting service is to paint all the baseboard, trim, and doors. These surfaces take more abuse than the walls and ceilings, so we use a paint that dries harder than normal paint. This keeps your interior paint job looking better longer.
- If our Galt interior painters are going to be painting your entire home, we alter the process just a little bit. We will usually still start by painting the ceilings, but instead of painting the walls next- we paint the trim! After we paint the trim (using the same ultra-durable paint that was mentioned above) we tape it off along where the wall and trim meet. Taping the trim this way lets us get razor-sharp lines between the colors- Something that can’t be accomplished with only a paint brush.
